Chapter 1 : The First Without War

Sumiyaka gasped softly and nodded. He sighed a bit and smiled, adrinaline coursing through his body. "I'll make you proud father..mother.." he whispered to himself and walked into the school and thorwards classroom 30.

Coming in late and seeing a few leave Tenshi runs to the group, panting and apologizing softly for being late.

Ryochoku's turn still wasn't there yet while his sister was already called up into one of the classrooms. He leant himself on a wall and stayed quiet for the whole time. It was a pretty tense atmosphere outside the academy building, lots of waiting and lots of tension. Many were actually performing the jutsus they knew on the field, some last minute practice. A few were actually playing and joking on their own, Ryo wasn't sure if they were too good or they were just trying to not think about the test too much.

One figure caught his eyes though, Haruno Tenshi, one of the test takers was actually running late. Well, she was actually lucky enough as her name was not called yet. Ryochoku didn't necessarily know her by too much as she was a pretty quiet girl on her own but one memorable thing was her name, Tenshi. Not many would use "angel" as their name so it was easy to recognized. She also seemed pretty fitting to her name, never really seen doing anything harmful to well...anything but he wondered if being a shinobi would change her. Eventually, there's bound to be some killing to do, unless one stays a genin forever and only do D rank mission.

And by then he realized he has stared at the girl a little bit too long and decided to turn his eyes down to the dusty ground in front of him.

After catching her breath Tenshi sat down against a tree. She looked up and admired the sun shining through the thick roof of leaves. suddenly she had the feeling she was being watched and without letting him notice, she caught Ryochoku while he stared at her.
She had the feeling he tried to place her in life. But who didn't? Nobody really took notice of her because of her distant and friendly nature.

When he averted his eyes she sighed and looked up again. She hoped this would be over soon.

Finally, the Half-Blood Tenshu's name was up on the list. That and one high-spirited girl, a heir, plus the Uzumaki heir. Ryochoku was pretty calm as he walked his way to the entrance. The few students still out there cleared their way for him, it was kind of an automatic clear really and the stare of his schoolmates were not exactly too friendly to him. Well, why would they be? He was kind of a weirdo among them.

Entering into the school building for hopefully the last time, he proceeded with his path toward the stated room.

Tenshi got a strange feeling. Everyone she knew had left. She didn't knew the others. Still she silently wished them good luck. A lot of them were nervous, instead of thinking about the oncoming exam, she grabbed a book and started reading again.

Thinking of about an hour earlier, when her overexcited dad had kicked her out of bed telling her she was already late, Nomaru stood in her secret place behind the school, smoking. Skipping whatever she had to do was nothing new for her. She had skipped most classes this year and still seemed to be doing fine. Most of the time she just watched a lot of television and stayed up late, stealing her dads cigarettes.

It was warm outside, lovely weather people would probably say. Her mind just drifted away as she was looking at some birds in a tree fighting over some stupid whatever.
Why am I still bothered? she asked herself as she stood up and tried to make her uncombed hair look a bit decent. Wearing the first thing she found on her floor that morning - an over sized black shirt, some shorts and tights with holes in them - she just tried to find herself an excuse not to go to the first real test, or whatever it was called. She was quit sure she would pass, had noting to really worry about and had a slight advantage, considering she had mastered two elements in some way. Or whatever. If she didn't pass her dad would probably go mental, but why would she even care about that? She didn't even really want to become a ninja.

Nomaru just didn't really care about anything but being a teen. She had reached her puberty early and with all the pressure people put on her it only had lead to all the wrong things. Especially her dad, who almost literally kicked her out of bed, trying to make sure she would go to school in time, trying to make sure she would pass every test and become everything he never was. Her mother was all right, just some typical mom doing typical mom-stuff, like cooking, cleaning and being proud of every single thing Nomaru would achieve in life. Still they just didn't get it. They didn't understand a thing about her and what she wanted in life. At this age she herself wasn't even sure about what she wanted from life. She was really growing up, exploring every bit of herself, nothing more and nothing less.

Nomaru just in the end lit a final sigaret, afterwards erasing all the traces and walked back to the school, almost an hour late. Her dad would go mental if she missed this exam and he promised her that he would pay for her first tattoo if she would succeed. Fair deal. That's all it was to her, a fair deal.

At some point after enjoying the sun a bit more she noticed one of the human beings in her school she didn't actually mind talking to occasionally. She just grinned as she walked up to the girl.

"Well, well, well, if that isn't Tenshi-chan. What are we reading this time?" she smiled as she found the girl reading some kind of probably uninteresting book and grabbed it from her hands and just to take a look at the cover. With some sign of interest in her voice she asked: "Is it any good?"

It was finally Kenshi's turn. He had to go to room 18 together with Kouhi and the older guy. He climbed down the tree and started making his way towards the classroom. Kenshi would be walking behind Kouhi following her into the Academy.

Tenshi looked up and gave the girl a curious look.
I don't think it's interesting n your case. The healing plants of the forest might come in handy for you though. But I don't think you are concerned about such things. Good to see you made it though. I was late as well.

Tenshi stood up and gestured she would like to have the book back.

Would you be so kind to give it back? I need it after the exams.

Nomaru raised an eyebrow as she sat down next to the girl and grabbed some food from her bag. She threw the book back on the girls lap and started eating. 'Why would I not care about healing plants? she asked after swallowing her first bite. 'Those things can be pretty interesting. But geez, why are you all so focussed on this thing? Nomaru took another bite and wondered if she should stress for the upcomming exam. She decided not to. It wasn't that much of a big deal for her anyway. If she would pass, she would pass. If not...
Oh well.

Tensi looked at the girl not really knowing how to answer. Nobody asked her before...

Medicine is the main reason the Haruno clan exists. I didn't say you didn't care. It just... well... I thought... Not much seems to interest you. I want to become a skilled healer, like Sakura or Tsunade. To heal people give them a chance to live another day. That and herbal knowledge is my specialization. I read a lot from the books I found at home.

She looked away, a hint of pain crawling across her face when a memory forced its way to the surface. She blocked it and opened her book. That would distract her.

Nomaru nodded and finished the rest of her breakfast. She kinda liked Haruno Tenshi. She didn't talk much, which was a good thing. Tenshi just seemed to know when she had to shut up. 'That's actually nice of you. To be willing to help people...' She smiled and starred at the clouds. 'You're a better person than most of the people I've met, Tenshi-chan. Keep up the good work.'
She just let Tenshi read her book for a while and looked at the pages she was reading. There were some pictures in it that didn't make too much sense to her. 'Read the book to me,' Nomaru just said after a while. There wasn't too much interest in her voice, but she was kinda bored and had short of promised herself to wait until her name was called. No sneaking away for cigarettes this time.

Tenshi looked surprised at Nomaru for a moment, then she nodded and told her what was in the book.

Most common plants found in the forest around Konohagakure are good for simple healing potions. However, if one knows where to look, one can find herbs with special properties. In the hands of a skillful person, great potions can be created. A list of herbs and places where they can be found are included in this book.

Reading on a bit more, Tenshi forgot all her problems and waited for Nomaru to ask her to stop.

An Academy teacher walked up to the two girls and coughed a bit to try and get their attention after which he would speak up.
"Haruno Tenshi, Koui Nomaru....please report to room 27 for your examination."

(Special note to Haruno Tenshi ; Upon comming close to room 27, if Uchiha Torame is still there, coming close to him, 10 meters is enough, will give you a somewhat weakened feeling, and a little bit nauseous. Likewise you can inform him that his Tengu mark will begin to hurt just a tiny little bit, giving a burning feeling. Just in case inform him it's an admin call. Enjoy your play girls.)

Tenshi hid away her book and looked at Nomaru.

Come, it will be over soon. If we make it, I'll treat you to a drink.

Nomaru just listened to the words Tenshi read to her and enjoyed them. Even though she wasn't really paying attention she still understood and sucked up the information told. It didn't make much sense to her, but she still liked it. She would look into this later.
Nomaru was smart enough to pass most classes even though she skipped most classes and just wandered around in the woods or wherever she felt to go. She didn't ask Haruno Tenshi to stop reading at all and was quit surprised when she suddenly stopped reading.

"Haruno Tenshi, Koui Nomaru....please report to room 27 for your examination."
'Yeah, yeah. Whatever,' she replied, while standing up. She smiled at Tenshi when she offered to buy her a drink if they both made it through the exam. 'You just get better and better don't you?'

''You've got to be kidding me, not today!'' Hatake Houtarou screamed after he finally woke up, noticing his alarm clock had failed him again. He always was the clumpsy guy...
Going through his morning routine faster than he'd ever done before, he said goodbye to his parents and ran off to the Academy while drinking a bottle of water.

Nearing the building, he was surprised he hadn't seen anyone yet. No way he was the only one late, there were other with that tendancy, right?He didn't see anyone outside the academy though. Was everyone inside already?! He always was bit lazy with his schoolwork and cared more about things that actually interested him, but he'd prepared quite well for this exam, as becoming a Genin was something he certainly was interested in! Keeping that in the back of his mind, he ran towards the entrance of the building. He took a final zip of his bottle of water, and threw it away as there was no thrash can to be found. He hated littering, and felt bad about doing it, but today was special. There was no time to be feeling bad or nervous now!

As the Hatake would near the door an Academy teacher would step out and see the Hatake boy running up.
"Uhm.....Houtarou-kun????!!!!" The sensei exclaimed shocked and a bit angered for a reason they both knew.

"What in the world are you still doing here?! The Hokage himself is still waiting for you!!! Are you seriously going to make Itachi-Sama wait?!" the teacher seemed a bit outraged yet Houtarou could see the glimpse of happiness in the teacher's eyes that he was trying to hide, he was glad that Houtarou had still made it.

"Hurry up now. Room 27! Go! Go! Go! There is only one more spot left as far as I have been informed."

''Hokage-sama?! WAAAAT?!'' Houtarou said, as he always had great respect for the Hokage watching over the village.

He jumped inside and quickly ran off to room 27. He turned his head around once more shouting: ''Thank you, Sensei!''. After a friendly grim, he head off to room 27.
